El Australiano Shaun Tan es uno de los autores-artistas infantiles más ingeniosos de la actualidad. Nació y creció en Perth (Australia) y estudió una doble licenciatura en Bellas Artes y Literatura Inglesa en la Universidad de Western Australia. Mientras estudiaba se dedicaba a dibujar para revistas y periódicos estudiantiles. Su trabajo continuó evolucionando a través de una implicación continua en pequeñas publicaciones de cómic y ciencia ficción, cuya estética se manifiesta a menudo en sus libros ilustrados.
Con contenidos enigmáticos y alegóricos gusta de los finales abiertos que generan multitud de interpretaciones. Algunos de sus libros más reconocidos son: "El árbol rojo" Ed. Barbara Fiore y "Emigrantes" de la misma editorial con el cual gano el Premio al Mejor Álbum del año, en el Festival de Angulema concurso equivalente al Oscar del cómic en Francia.

The Australian author/illustrator Shaun Tan its one of the more ingenious artists in the field of nowadays. Born and brought up in Perth (Australia), he studied Arts and English Literature in the University of Western Australia. While he studied he drew for magazines and university newspapers. His work evolutioned whit small collaborations in comics and science fiction booklets, which sthetic we can appreciate in his children books until now.
His contents are enigmatic and allegoric, he likes to keep his ends open to generate many interpretations. Some of his books are: "The red tree" Ed. Barabara Fiore and "The Arrival" of the same editorial house; with this last book he won the prize of the Best Book of the year in the Festival of Angulema, equivalent to the Oscars to the comic in France.
