Peter Sis
Peter Sis es un author, ilustrador, cineasta reconocido internacionalmente. Nacio en Checoslovaquia en 1949 y asistio a la Academia de Artes Aplicadas de Praga y el Royal College of Art en Londres. Empieza su carrera en el ambito cinematografico y llega a EU en 1982 enviado por el govierno Checo para filmar los Juegos Olimpicos. Debido al complot que hizo el bloque de la Europa del Este el mismo govierno le ordena regresar y el decide quedarse en NY como exhiliado en 1984. Gracias a la ayuda de Maurice Sendak con quien mantenia correspondencia, conoce a algunos editores y desde entonces empieza su trabajo como ilustrador.
El trabajo de Sis ha sido premiado muchisimas veces y sus libros son una delicia a la vista y a la imaginacion. Sus ilustraciones aparecen continuamente en el New Yorker, Time, Newsweek, etc... Pasen a ver su trabajo, es una inspiracion rotunda!
Peter Sis is an internationally acclaimed illustrator, author, and filmmaker. He was born in Czechoslovakia, in 1949 and attended the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague and the Royal College of Art in London. He began his career as a filmmaker. In 1982 he was sent by the Czech government to Los Angeles to produce a film for the 1984 Winter Olympics. But the film project was canceled when Czechoslovakia and the entire Eastern bloc decided to boycott the Olympics. Ordered by his government to return home, Peter decided to stay in the United States and was granted asylum. A correspondence with Maurice Sendak led to a meeting and Peter's introduction to children's book editors, and he moved to New York City in 1984 to begin a new career as an illustrator.
His work has been granted many awards and his children books are an enjoyment for the sight and the imagination. His illustrations appear constantly in magazines as Time, The Newyorker, Newsweek, etc... Go see his site, it is definitely worth it!!!
